🗳️ Know Your Power: Voting Requirements in North Carolina (2025)

Election Day is around the corner, and we’re not leaving a single vote behind. Whether you live in the projects, the towers, or anywhere in Kinston—your voice matters, and your vote is your power. But before you head to the polls, let’s make sure you’re ready.

Here’s what you need to know to vote in North Carolina this year:


✅ Who Can Vote


  • You must be a U.S. citizen

  • You must be 18 years old by Election Day (November 4, 2025)

  • You must be a resident of North Carolina and registered in your county

  • You must not be serving a felony sentence (including probation or parole)


🆔 Voter ID Requirements


Let’s keep it 100—you’ll need a photo ID to vote in person. Acceptable forms include:

  • NC driver’s license or state-issued ID

  • U.S. passport or passport card

  • Military or veteran ID with photo

  • Tribal enrollment card with photo

  • NC voter photo ID card issued by your county Board of Elections


If you don’t have one of these, you can still vote by signing an ID exception form at the polls.


🗓️ Key Deadlines


  • Register to vote by: October 10, 2025

  • Early voting begins: September 19, 2025

  • Election Day: Tuesday, November 4, 2025

  • You can also register and vote on the same day during early voting!


📬 Voting by Mail


  • Request your absentee ballot by October 21, 2025

  • Ballots must be received by 5 PM on Election Day
