Dear Friends and Supporters,
On this Soulful Sunday, I want to open my heart and share my journey with you—not just in words, but in images that tell the story of my fight for justice, honesty, and the right to serve Kinston.
1. What I Thought It Took to Have Your Rights Restored in NC

For years, I believed that following the steps laid out by the state—fulfilling every requirement—would restore my rights as a citizen of North Carolina.
2. Making My Last Payment—Believing My Rights Were Restored
Having completed 2 prison sentences, 120 on the CAM, 270 hours of drug/alcohol treatment, mental assessments and paying a huge amount of restitution, I thought

When I made my last payment, I truly believed I had completed the journey. I felt a sense of pride and closure, thinking my rights were finally restored and I could fully participate in our democracy.

On this day April 29, 2025 I honestly thought I had earned my rights back. This is so disappointing
3. My Honesty on My Candidate Filing Paperwork
When I filed to run for office, I answered every question truthfully and with integrity to the best of my knowledge. I wanted my campaign to be a reflection of my values—honesty, transparency, and service to the people.

As you can see in the actual pictured document I attempted to reveal more of my past but was told only the most recent conviction was needed.
A Promise to You
If I violated the law, it was unknowingly. My intentions have always been pure, and my actions guided by faith and a desire to uplift our community. I promise you this: we will fight to the bitter end for what is right, for justice, and for the future of Kinston.
Thank you for standing with me, believing in me, and walking this path together. Our journey is far from over, and with your support, I know we can overcome any obstacle.
With love and determination,
Quarla Blackwell
