Transformer Theft in Deep Run — Another Blow to Residents

In the early morning hours of November 13th, a power transformer was stolen right off Old Highway 11 in Deep Run. This wasn’t just some piece of equipment — it was critical for keeping the lights on for families in the area.

The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office is investigating, but the fact that someone could walk off with infrastructure this important shows just how vulnerable our community has been left. Residents are already struggling, and now they’re hit with outages and uncertainty because basic protections aren’t in place.

What makes this even worse is the timing. People have been crying out for accountability from city leadership, and here we are watching essential services disappear overnight. It’s another reminder that while taxpayers keep paying, the protection of our neighborhoods and utilities is not being prioritized.

This theft isn’t just about stolen property — it’s about neglect and failure to safeguard the community. Until leadership starts putting residents first, we’ll keep seeing situations like this that leave families in the dark, literally and figuratively.
